Tarbiyya Workshops

Through practical Islamic-ethos inspired interactive lessons’ including the use of training tools such as charts, role plays, group discussions and video footage it is aimed to introduce young Muslims to essential life skills enabling them to be good decision makers and leaders, and learn to put good values into practice, making them cooperative and responsible individuals.
The broad methodologies adopted in the Tarbiyyah sessions will help develop communication techniques that the youth will use for the rest of their lives.
Past workshops covered themes of:

What peer pressure is and how to recognise when it is being used; active (spoken) and passive (unspoken) forms of peer pressure, where peer pressure comes from and the effects it may have, how to resist peer pressure etc.

Why young people abuse drugs, Negative effects of drug abuse, legal consequences of drug abuse, effects of drug abuse on families, friends and society, effective approaches for drug abuse prevention.

Characteristics of a Muslim teenager, how to cultivate a strong Islamic identity, choosing the right friends.

Holiday Activities

During the winter, spring and summer breaks intensive Educational Camps are organised where children enjoy high-energy, fast-paced schedule of engaging discussions, group activities, presentations as well as recreation activities/games.
Past activities have included:

Students are taken to theme parks and activity centres twice a year as a day of fun activities; all with an Islamic ethos. Large groups of youth from 50 to even 100 have been taken to Theme Parks, Activity Centres, Safari Parks and other excursions during the past few years.

Youth are taken out for weekend residentials to beautifully landscaped countryside resorts across to the North and South of UK, staying at hostels and large private accommodations, as well as camping out in the open, in tents. The weekends are packed with outdoor activities, including, archery, mountain walks, canoeing, horse-riding, sports, as well as essential life skills training.

A night of inspiration and fun at Masjid ‘Eesa Ibn Maryam AS on the second last Friday of every month, from 8 till 10pm. For children aged 5 to 12 years of age. Activities include reminders, quizzes, games and pizzas. £2 per child.

A night sleepover at Masjid Eesa Ibn Maryam AS on the last Friday of every month, from 8pm until Fajr of Saturday morning. A night of games, reminders, Qiyaam, and sleepover. £5 per person. Registration necessary.

Physical Activities

Girls: Weekly martial arts classes (Judo and Thai-boxing) for girls of all ages at ArRahma Centre (ARC), 1327 Stratford Road, Hall Green, Birmingham, B28 9HH. Classes run on Sundays from 930am onwards.

Boys: Weekly martial arts classes (Taekwondo) for boys of all ages at ArRahma Centre (ARC), 1327 Stratford Road, Hall Green, Birmingham, B28 9HH. Classes run on Wednesdays from 8pm onwards.

Weekly boys of all ages and abilities, are taken out for indoor football coaching. Various local venues hired, and parents are responsible for drop off and pick-up.
